NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two rookie quarterbacks dueled on Sunday. Tyler Shough was the most consistent and productive and came out as the winner. IN his 16th NFL game, Cam Ward was similar to what we have seen all season.
He showed flashes of big-play potential, the ability to extend plays in the pocket and the arm talent to make all the throws. But he was also too prone to bad plays. Against the Saints he had two fumbles, took four sacks (most on him), and was inconsistent on third down leading the offense to just five conversions in 15 chances. He had two passes that could have been intercepted and one throw that could have been a fumble.
The Titans are scoring points and playing solid defense early in games but struggling to maintain it in the second half. They struggled to finish drives in the end zone and were forced to kick field goals instead.
Tennessee must learn to finish games.
