NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans' offensive drive before halftime was a microcosm of their season. They aren’t capable of being a winner. Down 17-10 before half, the Titans offense drove down into field-goal position on six plays. 

Instead of getting the field goal, the Titans took an aggressive shot downfield to Van Jefferson, who ran a stutter and go and double-moved the corner. Jefferson was all alone for an easy touchdown, but Cam Ward overthrew him by five feet, and the ball fell out of bounds.

So instead of being tied going into halftime and setting themselves up for a competitive second half versus one of the better NFL teams in the 49ers, the Titans used one more short pass to secure field goal range to attempt a 50-yard field goal and go into halftime down four points. But Joey Slye pushed it right, and the Titans' drive before halftime meant nothing with the team still down 7points.
