NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Free-agency winners in March are generally not winners in the standings in January. Teams don’t seek to build by buying, they seek to build by drafting and to supplement in the open market.

The Titans have said that forever, but their roster was in such bad shape and their cap situation in such good shape that 2024 offered them a rare chance to spend significantly as they revamped over 50 percent of their roster.

In Spotrac calculations about team-by-team expenditures, the Titans rank third in cost of free agents at $238.7 million. The cost of free agency is not defined. Over the Cap has Tennessee at $313.6 million overall (first), with $192.7 in total guarantees (first), $170.2 in full guarantees (second behind Jacksonville) and $119.9 million in first-year cash (first).
