With the Tennessee Titans’ season opener now in the rear-view mirror, the freshly sourced overreactions are in full swing. While the outcome of the game is not the result any fans were hoping for, the far more important focus is on how Tennessee’s anointed franchise quarterback fared in his rookie debut.

Despite an epic collapse from his entire supporting cast, Cam Ward thrived in his first start as a Titan. A perfect storm of sub-par coaching, disastrous pass protection and abysmal receiver play set him up to have a catastrophic opener against one of (if not the) best defensive units in the NFL. Due to these factors, it might not translate onto the box score, but Ward’s first game was extremely impressive.
