He showed maturity after his rookie season, but then his second season raised new questions. Now the Titans need to know which version of JC Latham is real.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans need to know which version of JC Latham will show up for Year 3.

At the end of his rookie season, JC Latham made the sort of mature decision you want to see from a high draft pick. He decided he needed to lose weight and would benefit from playing slimmer.

But late in that second season, as things unraveled around interim coach Mike McCoy, veterans Jihad Ward and Arden Key publicly challenged some of the Titans' young players after a loss in Houston.

One of the targets of that criticism was clearly Latham, who committed three false starts and a hold and was not particularly down about it after the game. Earlier in the year, Mike Silver reported that Jeffery Simmons halted a practice over Latham’s play.

The maturing guy who took it upon himself to get more toned was hurting the team with penalties and practice effort. Who exactly was Latham?
