It’s been a busy first week of the offseason for the Titans as they managed to snatch the first overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft away from the Patriots thanks to their 14th loss, tying the franchise record for most losses in a season, then fired GM Ran Carthon, the man who, at least in theory, would have been the person charged with using that top pick.
Carthon’s dismissal is just the latest sudden jerk of the wheel from controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, who has now fired either a GM or a head coach in three straight offseasons after five seasons of stability with former GM Jon Robinson and former head coach Mike Vrabel in charge.

My distaste for this latest move isn’t in the firing of Carthon, who I’ve been out on for at least a month, but rather for the fact that it didn’t go far enough in hitting a reset that this franchise so desperately needs.
I don’t say this lightly… I’m out on Ran Carthon and this whole Titans regime. This is truly awful football that they’re putting on the field right now and it appears to be getting worse, not better. Nothing we’ve seen this year (or last year for Carthon) suggests competence.

Rather than firing Carthon and starting fresh with a new GM, the Titans are choosing to have the new GM report
