NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Robert Saleh's staff started to take shape with the retention of John Fassel as special teams coordinator, a move that was expected.
Also staying: Tight ends coach Luke Stocker, running backs coach Randy Jordan and cornerback coach Tony Oden. Oden was on Saleh's staff when he was head coach of the Jets.
At the same time defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson is out. He was not expected to be part of a new staff, especially if the new head coach was a defensive guy like Saleh is. Offensive coordinator Nick Holz has also been let go.
Fassel is under contract through 2027.
Saleh is sure to focus on getting his coordinators in place before he starts hiring outside position coaches, as his top lieutenants will certainly have some input into the new members of the offensive and defensive staffs.
Saleh was officially announced as the team's coach Thursday. His introductory press conference will be Wednesday, after his entire family is available and a snow and ice storm in Nashville hopefully settles.
