NASHVILLE, Tenn. – How did the Titans lose to the Joe Flacco-led Colts?

Indianapolis has one of the worst-performing defenses in the NFL. It was ranked 32 before the game.  The Colts were without their franchise running back Jonathon Taylor and second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson. Their best defensive player DeForest Buckner and best cornerback JuJu Brent were also out.

But somehow, they were able to beat a healthy Titan team in a game where the offensive line gave up zero sacks and opened up big holes for the run game.

The Colts have one of the worst defensive back units in the NFL, but the Titans offensive game plan was not to attack the corners with their high-priced receiving unit. The run game was working for the Titans but the complimentary passing game was not. The game plan design was short and high-percentage passes.

If that is going to be the game plan moving forward the Titans need to invest in tight ends, bigger receivers and a “Josh Downs” type do-it-all player.
