NASHVILLE, Tenn. – At his pro day, Cam Ward made a really nice deep throw on a rollout to his left that led him close to Chad Brinker and Mike Borgonzi on the sideline of Miami’s indoor practice field.
He delivered a pretty good line too: “I’m solidifying it today,” he told NFL Network he told them.
That would be solidifying his standing as the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft on April 24 when the quarterback-needy Titans will go on the clock.
Out of the large Titans contingent that also included coach Brian Callahan, offensive coordinator Nick Holz, quarterback coach Bo Hardegree and assistant GMs Dave Ziegler and Reggie McKenzie, only Brinker had seen Ward throw live before, and that was from press box level at a game.

The Titans took Ward out to dinner Sunday night, then got a close look at his work and visited some along the way.
Business quickly resumed in Nashville as Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson arrived Monday evening for a Tuesday 30 visit with the Titans.
Ward told Ran Carthon, now with CBS Sports, that while he expects tougher defensive fronts, he thinks he will see some familiar things on the backend.
“A lot of guys want to put the safety high, 25 yards down the field, and leave the middle of the field wide open,” he said. “Some teams did that to us this year, they paid the price. I think some teams in the NFL did a lot of two-high stuff like Dallas, lot of Tampa, lot of cover-2, and leave way too much space on the sideline down the seam.
"So I just think the arm strength and the confidence that I bring along with me getting my receivers better I just think I’ll be able to put the ball where I want.”

It’s the confidence you expect to hear from the guy expecting to take over the Titans’ offensive huddle.
As I watched Ward laughing it up with Callahan, Holt and Hardegree after the workout I imagined how much it could do for the franchise if he could produce reasons for them to reenact that at Nissan Stadium in far more meaningful situations.
