NASHVILLE, Tenn. – I think the Titans have to prove they can win before anyone ought to suggest they should lose on purpose.

But at 1-6 the segment of the fan population that is obsessed with draft position is calling for the team to tank, or going so far as to suggest they’re already doing so.

This is among my least favorite topics. While I understand that, generally, better draft position is better for a team that needs upgraded talent, there is no guarantee. And this draft will feature no Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow or Andrew Luck – players regarded as clear prizes at the top. 

We regularly see teams in lower position fare better than teams above them.

No coaches or players are going to participate in a scheme to lose in October, November, December or January for better draft placement in April, as they are competitors building a week-to-week resume that requires the best performance possible for them to hold on to jobs or find new ones at the best possible price.
