NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans initial unofficial depth chart in advance of their preseason opener Saturday against the San Francisco 49ers at Nissan Stadium.

Reminder. Read all the way across the line, then return to the second line and read that all the way from left to right.

Safety: Jamal Adams is listed as the second starting safety ahead of Elijah Molden, with the depth chart set to publish before the signing of Quandre Diggs becomes official. Molden is behind Amani Hooker while Mike Brown is behind Adams, but things are pretty interchangeable there.

Right tackle: Time-served often pulls people up. I think Nicholas Petit-Frere will wind up the starter at right tackle, but he's been back for three practices after John Ojukwu worked the spot all spring and summer and is already listed as the starter.

Tight end: In the three-wide base offense, the Titaans chose not to choose a starting tight end, which is both a credit to Josh Whyle and a bit of a slight to Chig Okonkwo. Snaps have indicated Whyle may be more the first-down guy while they will both get their chances.

Offensive line: Leroy Watson (third left tackle) and Jaelyn Duncan (third right tackle) are not in prime position as depth right now.

Inside linebacker: Chance Campbell and Garrett Wallow, who suffered a shoulder injury Sunday, are the No. 2s at inside linebacker. Otis Reese and Cedric Gray are threes, Luke Gifford and James Williams fours and JoJo Doman a five. That's all poor depth.

Behind Key: Rashad Weaver is at the head of the line on paper to replace Arden Key when his suspension kicks in. But newcomer Shane Ray is behind Harold Landry and could flip sides to get snaps there too if the Titans don't add.

Returner: If they hold a spot for Mason Kinsey to be the punt returner, it sure will be hard to also keep sixth-round receiver Jha'uan Jackson, who's listed as the third-string kickoff returner and the fourth-string slot receiver. Unofficially, he's got a lot of work to do. Tyjae Spears is the primary kick returner.

Kearis Jackson is second at both slots. He's another guy who will be in a very tough roster battle at receiver.
