NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Bud Adams had a long-time no-nepotism policy.

He blocked two coaches from hiring their sons. Twice, when employees married inside the organization, one of them had to leave.

So in 2018, it marked a significant organizational shift when Mike Vrabel’s staff included not just veteran coordinator Dean Pees, but his son Matt Pees as defensive quality control coach.

“I don’t know where he got such a strong feeling on it,” Amy Adams Strunk said of her dad and nepotism at the owners’ meetings that spring. “But he did have a strong feeling on it.”

She did not have the same feelings and said it would be a case-by-case basis.

Now she’s signed off on two internal, familial relationships.

Saleh hired his boss’ brother as his linebackers coach. The Titans head coach also hired his cousin, Ahmed Saleh, to one of the staff’s entry-level jobs, defensive assistant.
