We have real(ish) football to break down this week following the Titans' 17-13 preseason win over the 49ers at Nissan Stadium on Sunday. Obviously, there are the standard qualifiers that come with any preseason game but given that this is our first glance at Brian Callahan’s new offense, I thought it would be worth diving deep on the 14 snaps that the Titans first-team offense saw on Saturday.
Let’s start by noting that the Niners sat almost every starter on the defensive side of the ball. Cornerback Ambry Thomas and safety Ji’Ayir Brown were the only two projected day-one starters that saw action in this game. There was no Nick Bosa, no Fred Warner, no Javon Hargrave, etc. so this was very much a backup-level defense that the Titans faced.
Meanwhile, the Titans did roll with what would be their starters on offense if they had to play this week with the lone exception being injured star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
