NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The ankle injury the Titans reported for Lloyd Cushenberry when he was knocked out of the Titans' win over New England is suspected to be an Achilles injury that will end his season.
After the game Brian Callahan called it an "ankle of some sort" and said things for Cushenberry and Quandre Diggs (foot) were "not real positive on those two at this point."
Cushenberry is one of the Titans’ five captains. While his play has not been as good as expected when he was signed to a four-year, $50 million contract with $26 million fully guaranteed, he has been a steadying force for the offensive line and the offense.
He was replaced in the game by Corey Levin, a sixth-round pick from 2017 who’s played 62 games with four starts and has been on and off the Titans’ practice squad in recent years. He had a handful of high shotgun snaps in the win over the Patriots. [Unlocked]
Right guard Dillon Radunz was out with a foot injury, so top interior backup Daniel Brunskill started in his place. Levin was up from the practice squad to play Brunskill’s regular role.
Now Brunskill is likely to be the starting center with Levin available as the extra interior lineman. If Radunz needs more time or gets hurt again or if Peter Skoronski goes down, Brunskill would most likely kick to guard with Levin taking over at center.
Cushenberry missed one game in 2021 and nine in 2022 when he suffered a groin injury.
