NASHVILLE, Tenn. – As has been long expected, the Titans have released L’Jarius Sneed, completing a saga that worked out very poorly for the franchise. He passed a physical on his way out.

The team traded a third-round pick and swapped seventh-rounders with the Chiefs for Sneed in March, 2024.

The Titans thought they were getting a premier, shut-down, cornerback, signing him to a four-year, $76.4 million deal with $51.5 million guaranteed. He finished having made over $43 million and leaving behind a 2026 dead cap charge of $8.12 million per Spotrac.

They got 12 games of inconsistent play and quad and knee injuries that landed him on IR both seasons.

He also presented the franchise with its biggest off-field issue in some time. He faces a grand jury indictment in Dallas County, Texas for the failure to report a felony where a reasonable person would have believed serious bodily harm or death may have resulted from a Dec. 6, 2024 incident.

Mike Borgonzi, an assistant GM for the Chiefs, was a point man on the negotiations, dealing with the Titans’ Chad Brinker. The two knew each other, so they got matched up by Brent Veach and Ran Carthon, the team’s general managers.

In January of 2025, a promoted Brinker hired Borgonzi as the Titans' GM.

The Titans have struck deals with cornerbacks Alontae Taylor, Cor'Dale Flott and Joshua Williams in free agency, replenishing a group that was thinned out even before Sneed's release.

The complete financial details are unclear as the Titans had insurance on Sneed.
