NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A uniform change is a topic of discussion for the Titans, but contrary to what’s become popular opinion, the Titans don’t have new designs finished with prototypes hanging in their headquarters.
They will wear a new uniform for one game next year.
The AFC and NFC West are donning new “Rivalry” uniforms for one game this season and the concept will rotate around the league. The Titans will be part of that in 2026 as the AFC South and NFC North take their turn.
The league has severely loosened the policies allowing for teams to wear alternates, which is why we saw them in Oilers uniforms twice in 2023 and once in 2024. Those are still technically in the Titans’ closet, but they are emphasizing their light blue without them and don’t have plans to wear them again anytime soon.
And with the team trying to dig out of terrible times and glide into the new Nissan Stadium in 2027, it’s safe to assume the Titans are in the mix for unique alternates when other opportunities arise while they consider an overall change.
But no decision has been made on new uniforms.
The root of the belief that new uniforms are a done deal lies with Warren Moon.
The Houston Oilers Hall of Fame quarterback came to Nashville in the spring to hand off his No. 1 to Cam Ward when he was drafted, and said part of what made him comfortable doing so was knowing Ward would be wearing the number he did but not the uniform.
He indicated he’d seen a new version of Titans' uniforms that would be coming. In fact, he had not.
He likely saw one of the many alternate uniforms that constantly trend on social media.
