INDIANAPOLIS – Not long ago, it looked as if there would be a veteran quarterback market that could, given the context of how few “good” quarterbacks generally come to market, qualify as almost hearty.

No All-Pro was going to come free. But beyond Sam Darnold, the one relatively young quarterback a team could choose to tab as its long-term guy, we thought Kirk Cousins, Derek Carr, Aaron Rodgers, and Matthew Stafford would come to market, with Stafford available via trade.

Now, the Falcons have said they will move forward with Cousins as (the expensive) backup to Michael Penix, the Saints have said they are sticking with Carr as their quarterback, and the Rams have struck a deal that means Stafford is not relocating. Indications are that the Titans are not into Rodgers.
