TicketsBar2NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Kenny Vaccaro had a good workout for the Titans Friday and is signing a one-year deal.

He’s now in line to replace Johnathan Cyprien as the Titans starting strong safety.

“Good size, played down close to the line of scrimmage a bunch in New Orleans but has the movement skills to pay off the hash, willing tackler,” a scout told me of Vaccaro.

Tennessee chose Vaccaro over Mike Mitchell, Lardarius Webb and Steven Terrell.

Jason Thompson, who played collegiately at Utah and has been with the Patriots, Bears, Seahawks and Cowboys will also join the team to fill out the 90-man roster.

Eric Reid was a viable option for the Titans but he had travel issues Thursday night and Friday and wasn’t going to get to Nashville until Sunday night.

With other teams inquiring about Vaccaro the Titans made their move.

He's quite possibly an upgrade over Cyprien and will move into a prominent role surrounded by a very good group of defensive backs.
