A Surprisingly Good Titans' Wide Receiver Stat

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans hit a fair share of big plays in the passing game.

Per Inside Edge, their wide receivers have the second-best average per reception (15.1 yards) in the NFL. That’s 2.5 yards more than league average.

Chris Moore
Chris Moore is averaging 20.1 yards on 18 catches/ Angie Flatt

Only the 49ers (15.1) are better with the mighty, bombs-away Dolphins and Texans tied for third and the Browns fifth (13.9) buoyed by Amari Cooper’s 17.4-yard average on 72 receptions.

Why has receiver yard per catch helped the other top teams in the category fare so much better in overall offense and points than the Titans?

Podcast: Remembering An Excellent Titans' LT Succession Plan

Podcast: Remembering An Excellent Titans' LT Succession Plan

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The general manager who came before Jon Robinson drafted poorly and didn't score well with free-agent acquisitions, with a few exceptions.

The Paul Kuharsky PodcastBut from Ruston Webster's experience in the front office in Seattle, he had a keen understanding of the importance of a succession plan at left tackle. He was the reason that years after the Titans went from Brad Hopkins to Michael Roos, they made a similarly smooth move from Roos to Taylor Lewan.

The Titans had no such vision when the end was near for Lewan.

That's where we start this week's edition of The Paul Kuharsky Podcast. The new episode awaits you on Apple, Spotify, Google Podcasts, iHeart and YouTube, which is also embedded below.

PK TV: Discussing Texans 19, Titans 16 OT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The bad ones seem to get worse and worse.

First-down stubbornness on offense was a killer for the Titans in their 19-16 OT loss to the Texans on Sunday at Nissan Stadium. Give it to Derrick Henry, let him run into a penetrating brick wall and head The Paul Kuharsky Podcastback to the huddle. It was maddening, and it's what I wrote about off of the game.

I know you'll want to dig into that and the official end of the sliver of playoff hopes this team had. We also haven't spoken since the team decided to end things with Teair Tart, and while he was;t playing with a lot of effort, he'd probably have helped limit Devin Singletary a little considering he dominated this game with 121 yards on 26 carries and another 49 on four catches.

He was the sort of physical running back the Titans are supposed to put forth on a weekly basis, but that was a dead idea in this game.

Let's gather for our usual post-game discussion where you can vent and we can hash out what we saw and didn't see.

Titans' Talk From Halftime of Thursday Night Football

The Paul Kuharsky PodcastNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Coming off the glorious comeback in Miami, the Titans are putting back on the Oilers uniforms to host the beat-up Texans.

Sadly, it seems unlikely C.J. Stroud will return from his concussion to play, denying us a meeting between an offensive rookie of the year candidate and Will Levis, and instead giving us Davis Mills and Levis in a game that always has special meaning to the Adams family because of the Houston element.

Can the Titans carry over last week's big finish?

We gathered at halftime of Thursday Night Football and discussed the trajectory of Treylon Burks, the obstacle the Texans present and all the other things that were on your mind as the Titans start their final month with the first of three of four games at home.

Podcast: Titans' Ran Carthon As A Background Guy

Podcast: Titans' Ran Carthon As A Background Guy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The way the Titans have responded, or appeared to have responded, to outside talk of Ran Carthon's performance and background is odd and goes against what their PR philosophy has been for a long time.

The Paul Kuharsky PodcastHe recently spent time contradicting himself in an ESPN.com article that was half about him, saying he stays in the background because this part of the season isn't about him.

It's odd in the middle of their 4-8 season of struggle.

That's where we start this week's edition of The Paul Kuharsky Podcast. The new episode awaits you on Apple, Spotify, Google Podcasts, iHeart and YouTube, which is also embedded below.

PK TV: We Discussed Colts 31, Titans 28 (OT)

The Paul Kuharsky PodcastNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Twenty-eight points certainly should have been enough in that one. One hundred and two yards for Derrick Henry before a probable concussion should have been enough.

But these were the find-a-way Titans, and not in a good way.

Special teams fiascos took them down and handed the game to the Colts, 31-28 in overtime, and Ryan Stonehouse, Henry, Jeffery Simmons and Josh Whyle didn't finish the game with injuries.

The hits keep on rolling. You know you're seeing this thing through. My whole column was about the special teams and Craig Aukerman, so this was my chance to go as much beyond that as you liked. Will Levis was bad -- 16 for 33 for 224 with a TD and no pick and missing DeAndre Hopkins out of bounds a couple of times on plays that had no chance. Sean Murphy-Bunting was super accountable but got beat too much, including on what amounted to the game-winning throw.

The officiating had some bad moments.

You had a lot to say about it all. So thanks for coming to the private Facebook page or to YouTube below for the hearty chat about it all. Enjoy a nice rewatch if you didn't make it.

PK TV: The Titans Ahead Of The Rematch With The Colts

PK TVNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Some people got excited about the Titans' win against the Panthers and dared to peek at what an extended winning streak would mean for playoff chances.

Others remain adamant that they want the team to lose every game in the name of the best possible draft position.

I don't think the Titans are winning out, but I suspect they are going to find a couple of wins along the way to the end of the season. And you can't convince me winning isn't important for Will Levis and other young Titans who have already started building what those draft picks will join in on.

It's something we discussed along with expectations for Derrick Henry in a rematch with the Colts and Mike Vrabel's future after conflicting reports.

Thanks to those who joined me at halftime of Thursday Night Football to discuss all things Titans as we get ready for Indianapolis' visit.
