L'Jarius SneedNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- At the NFL scouting combine, I picked up on a vibe that the Titans weren't thrilled with L'Jarius Sneed because of "stuff" that went beyond his 2024 injury that limited him to five games in his first season with the team.

I poked around but didn't come up with anything.

The AP reported late last week that a Texas man is accusing Sneed or his assistant of shooting at Christian Nshimiyimana at a car dealership in Carrollton, Texas, in early December of 2024.

Per the report:

Sneed and his accomplice were arrested by the Carrollton Police Department for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the shooting but have yet to answer for it. McCathern also accused Sneed and a woman who identified herself as Sneed’s mother of calling and threatening Nshimiyimana afterward, wanting him to not cooperate with police or retain an attorney.

The Titans gave the standard comment about being aware of the situation and following league protocol in talking with NFL security.

The alleged incident is concerning on many levels, but what strikes me the most is a line from a quote from Nshimiyimana's lawyer regarding a civil lawsuit against Sneed and his unnamed assistant.

“Regardless, the unprovoked aggravated assault of my client with a deadly weapon is part of a pattern of behavior for Mr. Sneed, and he must be held responsible for his actions so they do not happen again,” Levi McCathern said.

The pattern of behavior is the question. Was the "stuff" I'd heard about this one incident? Or was there more the Titans saw and or heard about, perhaps not to this level, but that gave them a bad feeling about Sneed?

After getting just five mediocre games from Sneed last year after giving up their 2025 third-round pick for him, the Titans need Sneed to be a healthy, productive and good player for them at cornerback this season.

Surely, the NFL is looking into the arrest and the suit. A suspension would seem unlikely, given what we know currently.

I wonder if there is more out there. And I wonder if the Titans fear Sneed getting involved in more.
